Overview
The STRIDE symposium brings together experts in rural and indigenous health care. The conference goals are to examine the long-standing health care disparities and inequities that continue to face individuals who live in rural and/or indigenous communities. The program will explore sources of systemic inequities, economic disadvantages, and environmental exposures that prevent individuals and their communities from achieving optimal health, leading to differences in health outcomes.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  2. Understand the Social Determinants of Health and their role in advancing health equity
  3. Provide culturally informed patient-centered care

Accreditation

AOA Credit

The Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. The Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine designates this program for a maximum of 6 AOA Category 1-A credit(s), and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation in this activity.

Osteopathic Specialty Credits

This conference is eligible for 1 Dermatology (AOBD), 3 Family Practice (AOBFP), 1 Internal Medicine (AOBIM), 1 Neurology & Psychiatry (AOBPM), 1 Pediatrics (AOBP), and 2 (AOBNP) Preventive Medicine specialty credits.

Proper Prescribing Credit

This program meets the requirements for approval of (1) hour of CME credit by the Oklahoma State Board of Osteopathic Examiners. 

AAFP Prescribed Credit

The AAFP has reviewed 2023 Symposium on Tribal and Rural Innovation in Disparities and Equity for Health (STRIDE) conference and deemed it acceptable for up to 6.00 Live AAFP Prescribed credits. Term of Approval is from 09/15/2023 to 09/15/2023. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

AMA/AAFP Equivalency - Providers may choose to include the following in addition to the AAFP credit statement:
AAFP Prescribed credit is accepted by the American Medical Association as equivalent to AMA PRA Category 1 credit(s)™ toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. When applying for the AMA PRA, Prescribed credit earned must be reported as Prescribed, not as Category 1.

Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy

This program has been evaluated and approved by the Oklahoma Board of Pharmacy for a maximum of 6 hours of CE credit. 

MATE Act - DEA
The lecture, OSBOE Oklahoma Proper Prescribing meets the new Medication Access and Training Expansion (MATE) Act requirements from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for training on substance use disorders. Providers planning to receive or renew their DEA registration can earn 1 hour towards their 8 hour MATE requirement by participating.
