Overview

In this module, pediatric primary care providers will learn the basics of opioid use intervention for adolescents.  We will focus on prevention and intervention.  In addition, we will give examples of motivational interviewing skills useful for pediatric primary care providers to help develop skills shown to be effective in the management of substance use disorders.   


Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Learn the basics of opioid use intervention for adolescents.
  2. Know appropriate screening for opioid use in the primary care clinic.
  3. Discuss prevention strategies for opioid use disorders.
  4. Review the intervention for opioid use disorders.
  5. Know motivational interviewing skills for primary care providers.
