Overview

This course provides pediatric-serving providers advanced mental health education beneficial to primary care and emergency care settings. NEAR Science, providing a holistic understanding of how trauma and resilience impact health outcomes, will be the foundation of this course. Through a NEAR science lens, evidence-based practices will be specifically explored for treating postpartum depression, childhood behavioral health challenges and adolescent substance (including proper prescribing). This course also educates participants on consultative care through a pediatric mental health care access program (OKCAPMAP).

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Critically evaluate methods of clinical practice, integrate evidence-based practice, and implement a trauma-informed approach to improve pediatric patient care.
  2. Review research and practice tools to effectively treat patients through a trauma -informed approach and understand how trauma is linked to behavioral concerns within pediatric patient care.
  3. Effectively build rapport with the pediatric patient and/or family member experiencing substance use/misuse while maintaining a professional and psychologically safe space.

Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

AAFP Prescribed credit is accepted by the American Medical Association as equivalent to AMA PRA Category 1 credit(s)™ toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. When applying for the AMA PRA, Prescribed credit earned must be reported as Prescribed, not as Category 1.

The lecture Proper Prescribing: Adolescents meets the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure & Supervision annual licensure renewal requirement for 1 hour of education in pain management or 1 hour of education in opioid use or addiction.

MATE Act - DEA
The lecture, Adolescents meets the new Medication Access and Training Expansion (MATE) Act requirements from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for training on substance use disorders. Providers planning to receive or renew their DEA registration can earn 1 hour towards their 8 hour MATE requirement by participating.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations received at least 72 hours prior to the conference will receive a refund less a $50 cancellation fee. After 72 hours before the conference begins no refunds will be granted for cancellations. If you wish to cancel and request a refund in accordance with the above Cancellation/Refund policy, send an email to our office.

The OKCAPMAP and OSU-CME reserve the right to cancel or postpone this program if necessary; in the event of cancellation, course fees will be fully refunded. We are not responsible for other costs incurred such as non-refundable airline tickets or hotel penalties.

*No refunds and no credits will be granted for "No-Shows" to the Conference.
