Overview
The goal of this program is to increase knowledge of best practices and evidence-based care to support school nurses and diabetes management volunteers in the care of K-12 students with diabetes.

ACCME Objectives
  1. By participating in the bi-monthly School Nurses & Diabetes Care ECHO program, school nurses, nurse aids, LPNs, and school personnel will be able to demonstrate an understanding of best practices for managing diabetes in K-12 students in Oklahoma, as evidenced by their ability to effectively discuss and analyze de-identified cases and answer questions related to diabetes care.
  2. Through active participation in the program, school personnel will be able to explain the importance of a collaborative approach to diabetes care in schools, as demonstrated by their ability to identify factors that contribute to effective care and the negative outcomes that can result from inadequate support for students with diabetes in Oklahoma.
  3. By the end of the program, participants will be able to apply evidence-based strategies and resources to improve the quality of diabetes care in their respective schools/districts, leading to better health outcomes and academic success for students with diabetes in Oklahoma. This will be evident through the implementation of approaches that promote a safe and supportive learning environment, coordination and collaboration among stakeholders, and addressing barriers to effective care.
