Overview
Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) training. This training includes on overview of management of OUD. This includes understanding addiction & the impact on healthcare; treating opioid use disorders, patient evaluation, specialty topics, and clinical uses of Buprenorphine.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Understanding the definition of addiction, individuals vulnerable to addiction, and the effects addiction has on healthcare. This section also introduces MOUD.
  2. Understand the pivotal milestones in opioid treatment and legislative initiatives in order to decrease the number of fatal overdoses and increase patients’ retention in treatment with improved social functioning.
  3. Identify and assess patients who are appropriate for treatment with medications. Describe the components of evaluation for medications for OUD treatment.
  4. Examine variable pain management practices for patients with OUD. Discuss co-occurring substance use with other psychiatric disorders. Describe appropriate treatment of OUD during pregnancy. Describe appropriate treatment of OUD in adolescents. Address treatment with OUD & patients with commonly occurring medical problems.
  5. Understand clinical uses of buprenorphine, including induction, stabilization, maintenance, and withdrawal.
