Overview

Join us for this live stream proper prescribing lecture presented by Rachel Wirginis, D.O. During this hour we will explore the history of opioid use and the need for responsible prescribing.

This program meets the requirements for approval of (1) hour of CME credit by the Oklahoma State Board of Osteopathic Examiners, Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision, and Oklahoma Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners. 

It is highly recommended that you pair your mobile number to your account prior to the session. During the session you will be provided with a session ID to text in your attendance.

Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:


  1. Define addiction as a chronic brain disease.
  2. Understand the goals of medication assisted treatment.
  3. Review the FDA approved medication assisted treatment options for opioid addiction including Methadone, Buprenorphine, and Extended-release Naltrexone.
  4. Understand OK Senate Bill 1446 and 848.

You will receive a confirmation email upon registering for the April 21, 2023 Livestream Proper Prescribing Webinar. 

To earn your CME credits:

  1. Register for the livestream proper prescribing session. *Registration for this session will close on April 21, 2023 at 10:00am CST.
  2. Pair your mobile number if you have not already done so from previous OSU-CME sessions.
  3. Join the livestream session on April 21, 2023 at 12:00pm CST by clicking on:
    My CME > Registrations & Receipts > Title of course > Content > Launch Livestream Session
  4. Text in your attendance with the session ID provided during the livestream session.
  5. Complete your evaluation under "My CME" then "Evaluations and Certificates". 

Accreditation
AOA Credit
The Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. The Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine designates this program for a maximum of 1 AOA Category 1-A credit(s), and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation in this activity.

Oklahoma State Board of Osteopathic Examiners (Osteopathic Physicians)

This program meets the requirements for approval of (1) hour of CME credit by the Oklahoma State Board of Osteopathic Examiners

Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision (Allopathic Physicians and Physician Assistants)

This educational activity meets the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure & Supervision annual licensure renewal requirement for 1 hour of education in pain management or 1 hour of education in opioid use or addiction. 

Oklahoma Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners (Veterinarians)

This program meets the requirements for approval of (1) hour of CME credit by the Oklahoma Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners. 

AAFP Credit

Activities approved by the American Osteopathic Association are acceptable as AAFP Elective Credit. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy

This program has been evaluated and approved by the Oklahoma Board of Pharmacy for a maximum of 1 hour of CE credit.
