Overview
Get expert addiction specialist knowledge in a virtual learning network with OSU Center for Health Sciences addiction medicine ECHO team. The curriculum is designed to expand expertise in treating substance use disorders in the primary care setting.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Identify evidence-based pharmacological and psychosocial interventions for substance use disorders.
  2. Explain the socioeconomic, cultural, and systemic issues that drive substance use disorder prevalence in Oklahoma.
  3. Identify the demographic and health factors that contribute to the high demand for substance use disorder services in Oklahoma.
  4. Explain how healthcare infrastructure, funding, and stigma contribute to treatment accessibility issues.

Accreditation

AOA Credit
The Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. 

The Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine designates this program for a maximum of (1) AOA Category 1-A credit(s), and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation in this activity.

This program qualifies for AOA Category 1-A credit under an exemption approved by the “Bureau of Osteopathic Education of the American Osteopathic Association".

The sessions for the Addiction Medicine ECHO meet the new Medication Access and Training Expansion (MATE) Act requirements from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for training on substance use disorders, unless specified. Providers planning to receive or renew their DEA registration can earn 1 hour towards their 8 hour MATE requirement by participating.
