Overview

The goal of the 2026 Virtual Primary Care Update is to provide primary care providers with the latest in practice guidelines over a wide variety of frequently encountered topics and disease processes. Program participants will then apply the knowledge gained back to their existing rural, suburban or urban practice allowing them to bridge the gap between previous therapies and the current best practices.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Participants will be able to describe current evidence based updates and clinical guidelines relevant to primary care, enhancing their understanding of emerging trends, therapeutic approaches, and diagnostic strategies across a broad range of conditions.
  2. Participants will be able to apply updated knowledge and clinical decision making tools to improve diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient counseling in common and complex primary care scenarios.
  3. Participants will be able to evaluate and refine their clinical practices to ensure alignment with evolving standards of care, incorporating patient centered strategies, interprofessional collaboration, and personalized treatment approaches.
  4. Participants will be able to integrate osteopathic principles and, when appropriate, osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) into comprehensive, patient-centered management plans to support whole-person care in the primary care setting

The complimentary accompanying presentation Proper Prescribing: meets the new Medication Access and Training Expansion (MATE) Act requirements from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for training on substance use disorders. Providers planning to receive or renew their DEA registration can earn 1 hour towards their 8 hour MATE requirement by participating in the accompanying presentation.
